This simple recipe is easy to make and absolutely delicious.
Servings - 2
Cook time - 30 to 40 minutes plus marinade time
Ingredients
½ lb pork ribs cubed
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tbsp salted black beans chopped
2 tsp soy sauce
2 tsp oyster sauce
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 tsp sesame oil
2 dashes white pepper
1-2 Thai chilis (optional - chopped)
Instructions
- Mix all the ingredients and let it marinade for best results for at least half an hour and up to a day. The cornstarch makes the meat more tender, but the flavors will still be very good if you don’t have time to marinade it.
- When you are ready to cook it, get your steamer ready. An easy way to do this is to put water in a pot until it reaches the height of the steaming rack.
- While waiting for the water to boil, put the meat into a bowl or a deep plate, one layer thick so everything cooks evenly.
- When the water is boiling, carefully place the bowl into the pot and cover it. The meat should take about 20-30 minutes to fully cook.
- Check a piece by cutting into it and checking that the center is not pink. If it is, keep checking every 5 minutes until it is done.
- Carefully take it out and voila it’s done! This dish pairs very well with rice, but for those who don’t like rice, eating by itself is also a great option.
Bon appetit!
Notes: If you wish to deseed the thai chilis so it’s less spicy, you can.
