Easy Steamed Black Bean Spare Ribs

2024-02-05

This simple recipe is easy to make and absolutely delicious.

Servings - 2

Cook time - 30 to 40 minutes plus marinade time

Ingredients

½ lb pork ribs cubed

2 cloves garlic minced

1 tbsp salted black beans chopped

2 tsp soy sauce

2 tsp oyster sauce

2 tbsp cornstarch

1 tsp sesame oil

2 dashes white pepper

1-2 Thai chilis (optional - chopped)

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients and let it marinade for best results for at least half an hour and up to a day. The cornstarch makes the meat more tender, but the flavors will still be very good if you don’t have time to marinade it.
  2. When you are ready to cook it, get your steamer ready. An easy way to do this is to put water in a pot until it reaches the height of the steaming rack.
  3. While waiting for the water to boil, put the meat into a bowl or a deep plate, one layer thick so everything cooks evenly.
  4. When the water is boiling, carefully place the bowl into the pot and cover it. The meat should take about 20-30 minutes to fully cook.
  5. Check a piece by cutting into it and checking that the center is not pink. If it is, keep checking every 5 minutes until it is done.
  6. Carefully take it out and voila it’s done! This dish pairs very well with rice, but for those who don’t like rice, eating by itself is also a great option.

Bon appetit!

Notes: If you wish to deseed the thai chilis so it’s less spicy, you can.
